Corrugated engineering for pigs

GD Engineering specialises in the manufacture of pipeline pigging solutions (pigs are devices used inside oil and gas pipelines). The company turned to DS Smith Rawcliffe to design a robust pack which could transport heavy equipment containing vulnerable, breakable components. A requirement of the brief was to use recyclable materials to replace the nailed wooden crates previously used.

The solution was a version of a standard 0201 pack with heavy grade board and weight bearing dividers. The new pack, which costs 30% less than the previous packaging, has delivered a range of important new benefits, including increased protection and safety. It has also boosted productivity in the product packing department.
