Christopher Lies Christopher joined in January 2008 after having completing his MSc in Quality and Environmental Management. Starting in Sales and Operations projects, within three Months he was charged with presenting the team’s findings to Managing Directors on a monthly basis. He says: “After a year, I started working for IT which gave me an insight into how the company collects and delivers information. I’ve also been developing and implementing an ISO based management system, helping to identify problems and solutions in paper handling. I will soon be working on the design of a new business information system. “ |

Elizabeth Price Elizabeth began working at the Celtic site just over two years ago and now has responsibility for the Rhondda site as well. She says: “I have specific responsibilities for quality, safety, health and the environment. My role is a diverse one and I rarely do the same things every day. I’ve received a variety of training such as IOSH Managing Safely and First Aid, and I’m now working towards an MBA. I have become a more confident person through the graduate scheme. I call and chair meetings, develop new initiatives to improve business and manage people and processes. My role develops and grows within the business as I learn more. There is always a new challenge ahead and plenty of room to show initiative. Your ideas and suggestions always get a hearing.” |

Jamie Graham Jamie gained some experience of working with DS Smith Packaging while he was still at university. He says: “I felt a good working ethic and could see that people were proud to be part of DS Smith Packaging. I joined the graduate programme in 2008. After spending six months as a Quality Technician and six months on Project Development, I’m now the Health and Safety Manager for the Tri-Wall business. Latifa Hankins Latifa joined in February 2009 with a degree in IT Multimedia. She says: “I feel very fortunate to have joined a very progressive international company. I’ve found the graduate programme very interesting and useful. I passed the Team Leader Programme and am engaging in further development through the Operational Management Programme. Having been assigned to the Technical and Engineering Support Team I’ve been able to develop many personal, people and process skills. My current role involves collecting and analysing the energy consumption data across the whole Company (30 sites), and reporting on them through the intranet.” |

Cheryl Scowen Cheryl’s a designer who joined the graduate programme in 2005. She remembers: “I started as a junior designer for the point-of-sale display specialists in Ely. There I gained an overall view of the business, working across all areas of design including corrugated engineering, reprographics as well as producing graphics and artwork. After a year I transferred to the London office where I now work designing structural point of purchase displays, 3D visual renders and print ready artwork for a large number of FMCG companies. I have had the opportunity to complete the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Certificate in Management Level 3, and the Institute of Packaging (IOP), Diploma in Packaging Technology.” |
